Our Approach

What to expect at Thrive

We believe good physiotherapy is more than pain relief — it's understanding why the problem started and giving you the tools to stay well long-term.

Thorough assessment

Your first session is dedicated to understanding your full picture — history, movement, strength, and what matters most to you. We don't rush to treatment before we understand the problem.

Hands-on treatment

Manual therapy, dry needling, joint mobilisation and soft-tissue techniques — applied where they're indicated, not as a routine. Treatment is always combined with active exercise, not used instead of it.

Individualised exercise

A personalised home exercise program built around your goals, your fitness level, and your schedule. We explain every exercise so you understand why you're doing it and how to progress it.

Education & self-management

You should leave every session knowing more about your body than when you arrived. We focus on giving you the tools to manage your condition independently — not making you dependent on treatment.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No referral is required for most appointments — you can book directly online or by phone. If you are using Medicare under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan, you will need a GP referral before attending. WorkCover and CTP patients require a referral from their treating doctor or case manager. NDIS participants can book directly if self-managed or plan-managed; agency-managed participants should check with their coordinator.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area being treated. Bring any relevant imaging (X-rays, MRI, scans), referral letters from your GP or specialist, and your private health insurance card for on-the-spot claiming. If you have any paperwork from a WorkCover, CTP or NDIS claim, bring that too.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your condition, how long you've had it, and your goals. Many acute injuries improve significantly within 4–6 sessions. Chronic conditions or post-surgical rehabilitation often require longer. We'll give you a realistic estimate at your initial assessment and update it as you progress — we won't keep you coming in if you don't need to.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. Home visits are available for patients who are unable to attend the clinic due to mobility limitations, post-surgical restrictions, or disability. We also offer home-visit physiotherapy through the NDIS and our aged care service. Please call us to discuss availability and whether a home visit is appropriate for your situation.

What is the difference between your specialist services and General Physiotherapy?

General Physiotherapy covers the full range of musculoskeletal, neurological and complex conditions seen in clinic. Our specialist programs — Recovery at Home, Return to Sport, and Aged Care — are structured, program-based services with specific eligibility criteria and dedicated pathways. If you're unsure which is right for you, just call us and we'll point you in the right direction.
