An independent physiotherapy assessment is a formal, impartial review of a claimant's allied health treatment — conducted by a qualified physiotherapist who has no therapeutic relationship with the worker. The reviewer's role is to provide a clinical opinion on whether the treatment being provided is reasonable, necessary, and consistent with the best available evidence for that condition.

Is the duration and frequency of treatment appropriate? Is there a clear treatment endpoint and recovery goal?

The scope of each review is determined by the scheme and the claims manager's requirements. All reviews produce a written report suitable for use in claims decisions and, where required, personal injury proceedings.
